Public Art Tour 6: San Francisco International Airport: Public Art Collection & Museum

It has been said that Airports are the museums of the future. Tour SFO, Tour San Francisco’s premier public art collection of over 100 sited works and the Airport’s renowned exhibitions. The only airport that is also an accredited museum houses a permanent collection representative of the region’s major art movements from Bay Area Funk to the Mission School, as well as works by national and international artists. Learn how San Francisco Arts Commission staff work with studio artists to achieve major public art installations and how the Airport values its art programs as an amenity that contributes to the bottom line.

Please Note: Attendees must register in advance and bring ID in the form of driver’s license or passport as the Tour visits both pre- and post-security areas. Departure time back from the Airport is 6 p.m.

Transportation and Accessibility: Participants will take BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) to and from the Airport. BART tickets will be provided at the time of the tour. This tour has substantial walking and is wheelchair accessible.
