Public Art Tour 3: Golden Gate Park: Public Art, Architecture and the Natural Environment.
Thursday, June 15, 3:15 pm - 6:00 pm
Two of the City’s major cultural institutions, the Academy of Sciences and the De Young Art Museum, face each other across the Music Concourse in Golden Gate Park. Housed in new facilities featuring stunning contemporary architecture, they share a setting with some of the City’s oldest monuments along with public art installations by Maya Lin and Andy Goldsworthy. Tour the museum’s contemporary sculpture garden and take a ride up to the top of its observation tower for a panoramic view of the park and western edge of the city.
