Timothy J. McClimon is President of the American Express Foundation and Vice President for Philanthropy, American Express Company.  In this role, he directs all of the American Express Company’s global philanthropy and employee engagement programs. Prior to joining American Express, Mr. McClimon was Executive Director of Second Stage Theatre where he led one of the largest nonprofit theaters in New York City.  He also served as the Executive Director of the AT&T Foundation where he directed AT&T’s global philanthropy and corporate citizenship programs.


A graduate of Georgetown University Law Center, Mr. McClimon joined AT&T from the New York law firm of Webster & Sheffield where he was a lawyer specializing in nonprofit corporate law. Prior to that, he managed the Inter-Arts Program at the National Endowment for the Arts in Washington, DC. 


In addition to his law degree, he holds a bachelor's degree from Luther College in Decorah, IA and a master's degree from St. Cloud State University in St. Cloud, MN. Mr. McClimon currently serves on the boards of several nonprofit organizations, including the Merce Cunningham Dance Company, the New York Better Business Bureau Foundation, and Second Stage Theatre.  He is also chairman of the Corporate Advisory Council of the American Red Cross.

Michael Gold is the founder and president of Jazz Impact, where he develops and conducts interactive seminars that bring together the two worlds of jazz and business. Gold’s expertise is in creating customized training sessions that reinforce team-building, problem solving, and other management skills by drawing upon the lessons of jazz.

Gold’s extensive background in music, academia, and business was essential in developing Jazz Impact. He held senior management positions in the real estate and financial services industries, holds a Ph.D. in jazz performance and created and ran Vassar College’s first jazz program. He has spent nearly two decades as a jazz bassist in New York having performed with such greats as Lee Konitz, Al Cohn, Tal Farlow, Sheila Jordan, and Warne Marsh.

Gold is an ongoing lecturer for The Executive MBA and Leadership Development Programs at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, The MBA Program at Loyola University in New Orleans, and The University of Minnesota School of Public Health. He has been a sought-after keynote speaker for top Fortune 500 companies and other organizations worldwide since 2000. He was The Paul D. Fleck Fellow for 2008 at The Banff Centre for Leadership for his outstanding work in the field of Arts Based Learning for Business.

 

Barbara Spradling

Barbara Spradling was appointed Director of the Innovation Institute at McColl Center for Visual Art in July 2008. Previously, she spent more than 20 years as a senior vice president with Bank of America, where she led the execution of large domestic and global enterprise efforts specifically in the areas of operations, technology, finance and risk. Most recently, she developed and led the implementation of structured crisis management initiatives and business and data recovery programs following global natural disasters and acts of terrorism. Barbara also has dedicated her time and energy to a variety of local and national art, human services and real estate development non-profit agencies including the Arts and Science Council, Council for Children’s Rights, YWCA, Children and Family Services Center and National Alliance of Artist Communities. She earned the Advanced Management Development Certification from the Harvard University Graduate School of Design and is Six Sigma certified. Spradling is a recipient of the Charlotte Business Journal’s Women In Business Achievement Award and the Dolly Award as an Outstanding Child Advocate.  She is also a 2005 graduate of the Innovation Institute at the McColl Center for Visual Art.
