Jean Hendrickson is the executive director for Oklahoma A+ Schools®.  She is responsible for overseeing the development of the network across the state, as well as for participating in the larger, national network and international partnerships. Her work has been documented in news reports, articles and books, including Elaine K. McEwan’s 10 Traits of Highly Effective Principals. She has traveled the country and the world as a spokesperson and advocate for creative, innovative teaching and learning as framed by the A+ Essentials™.


Jean was a principal for seventeen years, serving three elementary schools in Oklahoma City that included students in a highly multicultural community, in a suburban setting, and in an inner-city, predominately Hispanic neighborhood. Before she became a principal, Jean was the Arts in Education Coordinator for Putnam City Schools. She has taught preschool, kindergarten, third and fourth grades, as well as in a Title 1 Learning Center and has been a trainer for the National Core Knowledge Foundation. 


Jean received her Bachelor of Arts from Oklahoma City University and received her Master of Education degree from the University of Central Oklahoma. Jean has received recognition as recipient of the State Superintendent’s Arts Award for Excellence, the U.S. Department of Education’s National Distinguished Principal 2001, and the 2003 Medal of Excellence in Administration from the Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence. She serves on the boards of Oklahoma Educational Television Foundation, Creative Oklahoma, Inc., the Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence, Harding Fine Arts Academy, and the DaVinci Institute.
