Daniel Stover
ArtistTomball, Texas
Daniel Stover is a woodwind performer from Houston, TX. In July 2008, he suffered a near-fatal hemorrhagic stroke which left him unable to use his left hand and took away his ability to play. While he returned to teaching in October 2009 at a much reduced capacity, not being able to play was leaving a large sense of musical emptiness and led to Daniel having his saxophone converted to the toggle-key system developed by Jeff Stelling and David Nabb of Kearney, NE as part of the One-Handed Woodwinds project (onehandwinds.unk.edu).
Upon completion of the conversion of his saxophone in January 2012, Daniel has finally been able to play again and is working arduously to develop his competency on the new mechanism, with the goal of returning to professional concert performance, as well as a more normal teaching schedule.
