Dogpatch and Bayview Hunters Point are two neighborhoods experiencing major transformations. The Bayview Opera House, constructed in 1888, is San Francisco’s oldest theater and is a designated historical landmark. Hunters Point Shipyard is home to the nation’s largest artists’ colony with more than 250 working studios. Two relative newcomers are Imprint.City which uses the arts as an economic stimulus in underserved communities, and Minnesota Street Project which offers affordable and economically sustainable spaces for art galleries, artists and related nonprofits in three warehouses.
