Since 2015, Colleen Sheehy has been Executive Director of Public Art Saint Paul, a leading public art nonprofit that partners closely with the City of Saint Paul, particularly in its City Artist Program. She has implemented new projects including Utopian Podium, The Art of Food in Frogtown and Rondo, Bee Real Bee Everywhere, and Distinguished Public Artist Annual Program.  From 2008 to 2015, she served as Director and CEO of Plains Art Museum in Fargo, ND, where she re-oriented the Museum to community engagement in its exhibitions, educational programs, public art, and socially engaged art. She completed a $6.5 million capital campaign for the Museum in 2012. Sheehy played a leading role in community conversations on public art and social practice and helped to pass an ordinance to establish a Public Arts Commission, on which she served. For 15 years prior, she was Director of Education at Weisman Art Museum, University of Minnesota, where she forged collaborative models of museum education. With an MA and PhD in American Studies, she has focused her professional work on ways in which art and artists play vital roles in civic life.
